How do I place an order?
To place an order, first go to the page for the product you are looking for (Cuddle Cups or Tunnels and Cozies) and decide what size product you want. Then decide on colors, pattern, and stitch. Finally, go to the Ordering Info page and enter your information, making sure to include your color and pattern choices on the order form. Of course, you can always check out the Available Now page and simply enter the code to order one of those items. You will then receive a confirmation email stating the details of your order. When your item(s) is complete, you will receive an invoice instructing how to pay.
How long does it take to get my item(s)?
Generally you should allow 3-4 days for me to make the item (5-6 days for the larger items), plus another 3-5 days for shipping. Available now items are shipped within one business day of receipt of payment. However, knit/sew time depends on volume of orders, so you should allow up to two weeks to receive your order. Also remember that large orders of multiple items will take longer to complete. Please allow enough time for each item you order. You can inquire as to the status of your order through the Contact page.
Can I cancel my order?
If you must cancel an order, kindly do it within 48 hours of placing it. This is especially important for custom orders because a great deal of time goes into the making of these largely hand-made items. I will accept cancellations up to five days after the order, but please remember the item may be mostly finished by that point--it would then go into the Available Now page with no guaranteed buyer to make up for that time and materials. Once payment is received through Paypal, the order is considered final and will ship. You may then refer to the return policy enclosed with the shipment.
Is it safe to put the tunnels and cozies in the cage? Will my pigs chew on the yarn?
This is a question that depends on your individual guinea pigs. Many who have other things to chew on (i.e. hay to chew on) will leave the yarn alone and use the cozies for cozy purposes. A good rule of thumb is to put your cozies in the cage or out during floor time and watch how the pigs treat them. If you ever notice a pig chewing or tearing at the yarn, reserve use of the cozies for supervised floor and lap time. Another good way to do this is to inspect the cozy or tunnel every few hours for stitches that look pulled or gnawed on. My own pigs have their tunnels in their cages--they have unlimited hay, so occasionally they might take a taste of the yarn and remember the hay tastes better. They key is to know and to watch your own pigs. All orders will include information on how to monitor your cavy and check for yarn chewing and its dangers. As of 11/30/07 the fleece will now extend a little farther over the rim to discourage sitting inside the tunnel and chewing on the ends.
What is the difference between the stitches?
The main difference is just in how the item looks, but in general the classic knit and garter stitches are tighter with fewer "gaps" between the rows. Crochet items also take a bit longer to complete.
Do you make tunnels for other animals?
Yes! I am in the process of developing tunnels for ferrets and cats. If you are interested in custom ordering one, email me--I may not have the site up for a while.
Thanks for your interest!
